The Communication Workers Union (CWU) have notified Royal Mail that they intend to take further industrial action on Thursday 29th October. This planned industrial action will last for approximately 24 hours and will affect the collection and processing of mail from all customers. Also Mail Centre collections (Standard Tariff, Clean Mail, Packet post etc.) will be affected.
We know that businesses rely on our services and we are really sorry for the disruption and inconvenience this industrial action will cause you, your business and your customers/clients.
Why is this industrial action happening?
Royal Mail needs to modernise how our business operates for our customers and we are making strong progress in doing so. We cannot slow down now, in fact our customers want us to increase our pace of change. Royal Mail is continuing to talk with our people and the CWU, underlining the impact these service disruptions are having on our customers, our business and our reputation for delivering great quality of service.
What does this mean for you?
• This industrial action means we will be unlikely to have the capability to collect your mail on Thursday 29th October
• You may choose to post any important jobs before or after the industrial action to ensure that the items are processed and delivered in the target time
• We may ask you to hold your mail on your site until Friday 30th when normal collection services will resume
